Shadab Khan Says Pakistan Aims to Win T20 World Cup After Super Eights Qualification

Pakistan’s cricketer Shadab Khan emphasized his team’s ambition to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after Pakistan qualified for the Super Eight stage with a convincing victory over Namibia on Wednesday.

Speaking after the match, Shadab said that Pakistan’s objective now extends beyond merely advancing through the tournament. “Our goal is to win the T20 World Cup,” he said, adding that the squad’s confidence is growing with each game.

The right-arm leg-spinner underlined the team’s belief that their balanced combination of batting and bowling gives them a strong chance in the next round of competition, where they will face top teams such as New Zealand.

Pakistan secured their place in the Super Eights following a comprehensive victory against Namibia in Colombo, highlighted by a century from Sahibzada Farhan and a key bowling performance from Usman Tariq. The result capped a successful group stage after earlier losses in the tournament.

Shadab also stressed the importance of maintaining focus and building momentum as the competition intensifies. “We are pleased with how we have played so far, but there’s a lot of cricket still to be played,” he said.

The Super Eight fixtures will see Pakistan competing against established sides with strong World Cup pedigrees, and Shadab acknowledged the challenge ahead while insisting his team is up to it.

“We respect every opponent, but our mindset is positive, we want to go all the way,” he added.

Pakistan’s next match in the Super Eights is scheduled against New Zealand in Colombo, with anticipation rising among fans who hope the team can translate its early tournament form into a title challenge.
